What is Tea?

Tea is a refined infusion made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant.  While there are many categories of tea, green, white, oolong black, and pu-erh, all true teas are the result of meticulous cultivation and artful processing of this single plant species. The distinction lies in the method of crafting: oxidation levels, harvest time, and regional terroir all contribute to the unique character of each tea.

A World of its Own

What sets tea apart is its incredible versatility. From the fresh, grassy notes of green tea to the bold richness of black tea, each variety offers a unique flavor profile that showcases the craftsmanship of the tea master.

Though the word "tea" is often used broadly, only infusions made from Camellia sinensis are considered true tea. Herbal blends, while aromatic and enjoyable, are more accurately described as tisanes.
